Performance of "The Girl with ugly Face" by NIE, Schauspielhaus Zürich: Lisa gets angry quickly. And when she gets angry, she gets very angry. She's never hit a person or thrown stones at them. But she says bad words. One day she gets so angry and says so many bad things that it prompts everyone at school to yell, "Boo, boo - you have an ugly face!". Lisa runs home feeling misunderstood by everyone. The other kids don't understand her, the teachers don't understand her, and her parents understand her the least of them all.
"The girl with the ugly face" is about what anger can do to us and how we sometimes manage to make things right, even when the world feels far too big and we feel far too small.
What do I do when my head is spinning and my face is red with anger? Why is an expression of joy more accepted in society than one of anger? After the play "The Girl With the Ugly Face" we will playfully explore our own feelings of anger, make ugly faces and look "being angry" in the face!
12:00–13:00
Lunch at the festival center at the Chocherey (on registration, with tickets) or with a self-brought picnic. Free time at the festival center with various games.
13:00–15:00
Kugelstrudel-Building: This participatory installation at the festival's center invites young and old to build a network of ball tracks with a creative array of recycled materials. Various tracks run next to each other, sometimes connecting, sometimes simply ending on the square. The scenography team of OFFCUT Zurich oversees this project, offering ideas, work materials, and support for the attendees. By playfully addressing themes of sustainability and resource conservation through the creative use of residual materials, a social sculpture is created during the festival. Large, colorful, and full of sounds.
